These Stuffed Pizza Rolls are made with soft, buttery, garlic herb rolls, then stuffed with marinara sauce, mozzarella cheese and your favorite pizza toppings. These make for a fun, tasty appetizer or party food, or you could easily pair it with a salad and call it dinner. I’m a firm believer that pizza night should be a weekly thing. So, add these to your list for your next pizza night. You won’t be disappointed. 🙂
I’m a huge pizza fan, but my brother has me beat. I truly think he would eat pizza for every meal if he could. I am, however, a firm believer, that pizza night should be a thing once a week. Pizza night is a fun tradition I remember growing up. Most Fridays we would either make a frozen pizza or order pizza from a restaurant and eat it at home. My mom wasn’t much of a baker, or really into cooking at all, so we never made pizza from scratch. But, I have such wonderful memories from our pizza nights. Maybe it’s because it always tasted so darn good, or maybe it was because pizza night always brought us together at the table at the same time and we were able to listen, talk and enjoy each other’s company. Alright, enough of my pizza nights, let’s get down to the details.
Here’s what you need to know…
To make the dough, you’ll want to add the yeast, honey, milk, egg, flour, salt and butter to your mixing bowl. Don’t add the salt directly on top of the yeast as it will deactivate the yeast. I like to add the salt on top of the flour. Knead the dough for 8 minutes on medium speed on your mixer. You can. mix this by hand. It will just take longer. I recommend kneading by hand for 12 minutes. Once you knead the dough, place in a lightly greased bowl, then spray the top of the dough with nonstick spray. I like to do this so it doesn’t get stuck on the kitchen towel or plastic wrap. Cover with a kitchen towel or plastic wrap and allow to rise for 20 minutes.
Next, you’ll divide the dough into 12 roughly equal pieces. Flatten the pieces of dough and add the fillings – marinara, cheese, your favorite pizza topping.
Grab the edges of the dough and pinch together in the center to completely cover the toppings. I like to flip my rolls over and roll the dough to help seal the bottom. Place in a lightly greased 9×13 pan, then cover and allow to rise for 20 minutes.
Before baking, brush garlic butter over the rolls, then bake in preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
Serve these warm with marinara sauce or pizza sauce.

Ingredients
Rolls
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) instant yeast
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 cup whole milk (warmed to 110F)
- 1 large egg
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons unsalted, softened butter
Pizza Filling
- Marinara Sauce
- Mozzarella Cheese
- Pepperoni Slices, or your favorite pizza topping
Garlic Herb Butter
- 3 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 tablespoon fresh oregano, chopped (or 1/2 teaspoon dried)
- 1/2 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (or 1/2 teaspoon dried)
- 1/2 tablespoon fresh thyme (or 1/2 teaspoon dried)
Instructions
1. To the bowl of a stand mixer, fitted with the dough hook attachment, add all ingredients for the rolls. Make sure you don’t add the salt directly on top of the yeast, as it will deactivate it. Mix on low speed until ingredients come together, then knead for 8 minutes on medium speed.
2. Place dough in lightly greased bowl. Spray top of dough with nonstick spray then cover with plastic wrap or a kitchen towel and allow to rise for 20 minutes.
3. Punch down dough, then turn out onto floured surface. Divide dough into roughly 12 equal pieces. Flatten the piece of dough with your hand, then add the toppings to the center of the piece of dough. Don’t add too much marinara sauce as it will leak out of the dough. Add marinara, mozzarella cheese and pepperoni, if desired. Grab the edges of the dough and bring together in the center over the toppings. Pinch the dough together with your fingers. Repeat, by grabbing edges of dough, then pinching dough together in center until the pizza toppings are entirely closed in the dough.
4. Flip the dough ball over and place your hand over the dough, rolling the dough ball to fully seal the bottom of the dough. Place rolls in a lightly greased 9xx13 pan. Cover with plastic wrap or a kitchen towel and allow to rest for 20 minutes in a warm place.
5. Once the rolls are almost done rising, preheat oven to 350F.
6. Whisk together ingredients for garlic butter. Brush over pizza rolls. Bake in preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until rolls are golden brown.
7. Serve with a side of marinara or pizza sauce and enjoy!

can you freeze these before or after baking?
Dot,
I haven’t tried freezing before baking, but you can certainly freeze after baking for up to 3 months. Just thaw in the refrigerator overnight, then heat up and serve. Hope you enjoy!

I made these today, and they’re amazing! I filled them with homemade pizza sauce, chicken, bacon, and mozzarella. Everyone loved them, including my two sons who are usually reluctant to try anything new. Thank you.
Yolande,
That filling with the chicken and bacon sounds soooo good! I’m so happy to hear everyone loved them including your two sons :). Thanks for making my recipe!
